Meet Ereena Torpey

Ereena Torpey is an experienced podiatrist who has spent almost two decades working predominantly in the care of high-risk feet.

High-risk podiatry isn’t an area she simply found herself working in. It’s where she wanted to be from the beginning of her career, and where she has continued to build her knowledge and experience ever since.

After studying podiatry at the University of South Australia, Ereena worked at the Royal Hobart Hospital before returning home to South Australia, where she has worked at Flinders Medical Centre.

Throughout her career, Ereena has developed extensive experience caring for people whose foot health is affected by complex medical conditions including diabetes, vascular disease, chronic wounds, kidney disease and other long-term illnesses.

She holds postgraduate qualifications in Public Health and Wound Care, as well as further postgraduate study in Palliative Care.

Ereena is also an Endorsed Podiatrist, allowing her to prescribe scheduled medications, including antibiotics, when clinically appropriate. For patients with high-risk feet, being able to assess, treat and prescribe as part of the same consultation can help reduce delays in treatment.

Her approach is collaborative. Ereena regularly works alongside GPs, vascular specialists, endocrinologists, renal teams and other healthcare professionals to ensure foot health is considered as part of the patient’s overall care.

She is committed to ongoing professional development and evidence-based care, while keeping consultations practical, personal and easy to understand.

For Ereena, good high-risk foot care is about more than treating the problem in front of her. It’s about helping people stay mobile, prevent complications and, wherever possible, stay out of hospital.

Outside the clinic, Ereena lives on a farm with her two young daughters, where life brings a very different kind of busy.
